Established in October 2002 as the Governance Research Centre, and re-launched on 14 December 2007 as the Centre for Governance & International Affairs, CGIA undertakes research into the relationship between the state, the private sector and civil society, and how that relationship affects our lives. It brings together academics and practitioners through interdisciplinary activities, and it is particularly concerned with the formal and informal rules, processes and practices affecting how power is exercised.
