Bristol University Day Nursery is a medium establishment with spaces for up to 76 children. It is a non profit making, charity that operates on the University campus. The Nursery is not part of any nursery chain or affiliated with any other nursery. The nursery gives priority to and accommodates children of students and staff between 3 months and 5 years.
The nursery provides a caring environment where high quality play and education are used to stimulate and encourage each child's intellectual, physical and emotional development. The nursery's guiding principle is that your child will thrive in a warm and loving atmosphere where his or her individual needs can be met to the full.
The nursery is managed by a committee of student and staff parents: the Parents' Association. The team of qualified staff, led by the Nursery Manager, work together with the parents to make the nursery a happy, stimulating and content place for the children.
The nursery is registered with Ofsted, the government's school standards agency, and as such promotes early learning.
The nursery has gained accreditation in both local and national quality assurance schemes for early years settings. (The Bristol Standard, and Baby Effective Early Learning/ Effective Early Learning). The self-evaluation framework is designed to help nurseries, pre-schools, reception classes and child-minders to reflect on, assess and improve their practice.
