The Graduate School of Education offers participants in Doctoral programmes the opportunity to develop research skills and knowledge within a world-class research-intensive institution.
The School offers two programmes, MPhil/PhD and EdD:
The EdD programme is tailor-made for ambitious, mid-career education and training professionals whose work requires them to have a high level of research capability. It is a structured programme with intensively taught units and coursework with a dissertation.
Participants can negotiate progress and follow a general programme outline or specialist pathways for Management and Policy, TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) and Narrative and Life Story Research.
The course is also offered in Hong Kong in partnership with City University.
The MPhil/PhD programme is offered with an extensive research training programme for all students which complements our ESRC 1+3 programme. Participants in this programme have a personal adviser who supports them in the production of a substantial dissertation.
All research students join one of the Graduate School of Education's research centres as an associate member, join staff in attending and offering seminars and have access to specialist methodological support, computing and information technologies and specialist library services.
