JCR Elections

As you've come to the end of your Freshers' fortnight here I hope you are all settling in well and enjoying your time at the University of Bristol. The events organised by the hall over the last 2 weeks (Where's Wally, Boys vs. Girls, Pub Quiz, Comedy Night, FRISK - to name a few) wouldn't have happened without the good work of a Junior Common Room (JCR) Executive Committee (EC); most of whom you may have got to know. Now is the time for you to start thinking about setting up a new JCR EC for this year from all of you: our current JCR.

The JCR Executive Committee is responsible for the social and recreational side of hall life by organising entertainments (in the bar and elsewhere - paint balling for example), sports teams, etc. As a committee they act as a link between the students and staff and thus represent the interests of the student body. Being on the JCR committee is a great way to get involved with hall life; make the most out of your time in Durdham; set the atmosphere of the Hall for this year and gain useful experience.

Over the next couple of weeks we shall be holding formal meetings with JCR applicants, Hustings where applicants can put forward their manifesto to the rest of the students here and the all important election.

The dates for these are as follows:

If you want to know more before applying then please come to the bar at 1900 on Saturday where myself; the Deputy Warden and some of the outgoing JCR EC will answer any questions.

Many have already expressed an interest in standing for JCR, but for those of you who were not sure at the time or didn't see the form, it isn't too late! Please email me if you're interested - and come to Saturday's meeting.

Positions available are: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Sports

Rep., Entertainment Rep. (x2), Computer Rep and PR Rep.

If you wish to stand then download a nomination form.

Many thanks,

Chris

Senior JCR Treasurer, 2009/2010.
