Information for students
The student community in Clifton Hill House is lively and friendly. We have students studying all the subjects offered by the University of Bristol, and their interests range from sports and charity fundraising, to performing arts and social events.
Activities and events at Clifton Hill House
- CHH boasts active rugby and football teams that compete in the intramural sporting leagues.
- Our Performing Arts Society organizes three plays or musicals every year. Recent productions include My Fair Lady, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Guys and Dolls, The Boyfriend, Jesus Christ Superstar, and The Pirates of Penzance.
- The Hall choir performs at a number of Hall events, such as the Christmas Ball and various charity concerts.
- Each term, we hold music concerts in aid of charities nominated by our students or with a special connection to the Hall. Recent charities have included Macmillan Cancer Support, St Peter's Hospice, Paul's Place, and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
- The Christian Union organizes film evenings, debates, and Bible study groups throughout the year, and provides free toasties and refreshment for stressed students at exam time!
- The Hall bar, which is run by students for students, is known as the Three Horses Club. It hosts regular pub quizzes and themed evenings as well as showing major sporting events on its large projector screen.
- Each term, the JCR organizes themed formal meals for Halloween, St Valentine's Day, Christmas, and other notable dates!
- In the summer term, the JCR throws an extravagant Summer Garden Party for all the students of the Hall. There is Pimm's, less-than-serious sporting contests, and musical entertainment.
- In the Christmas term, the legendary Snowball is held. This is a black tie event and includes a three course meal, live music, a notorious Santa's Grotto, and other entertainment that changes from year to year.
