How schools can help us
We receive valuable support of different kinds from schools across the South West, particularly those with already established Classics programmes. Here are some ways you can help:
Join our network
If you are teaching any of the classical subjects in whatever form in the South West of England, we want to know about it, and we want to include you on our map! The more we know about Classics teaching in the South West, the more we can do to help everyone to work together. The map also allows schools to see for themselves what Classics teaching is going on around them. Sign up here.
Become a mentor
We’re looking for experienced Classics teachers to share their accumulated know-how with new Classics teachers through our mentoring network. Click here for more information.
Donate textbooks
Often one of the biggest impediments to setting up new Classics programmes is the cost of textbooks. We’d love to hear from you if you are able to donate textbooks. Copies of the first Minimus book, Books 1-3 of the Cambridge Latin Course and John Taylor’s Greek to GCSE would be particularly helpful. If you have textbooks to donate, please email classics-hub@bristol.ac.uk.
Host an event
We often need spaces to host regional events for schools: if you can help with this, please email classics-hub@bristol.ac.uk.
These are only the most common ways in which schools help us: if you have other ideas, we’d love to hear from you. Please email classics-hub@bristol.ac.uk.
