All Churchill residents are members of the Junior Common Room (JCR), and pay a JCR subscription as part of their accommodation fee. This entitles them to use all the facilities of the JCR, including the Junior Common Room itself, the JCR Bar, and many other facilities.
The JCR committee is elected by all Churchill residents. A new committee begins work in the first term and continues into the next year. It is overseen by the JCR President, and includes representatives for facilities, communications and more. It also includes the three members of the Bar Committee and two first year representatives who sit on Hall Committee.
The committee run the Junior Common Room, the hall bar, and all facilities such as the snooker and pool tables, the JCR Bigscreen and more. They also organise hall events, including Freshers’ Fortnight, Snowball and the highlight of the year, the Valentine’s Ball.
Aside from this, the JCR are also around to assist you with any problems or help answer any questions you may have, from how to register for your open units (nightmare), to which club is the best to visit on a Friday night.
They can also help convey your opinions to the SCR, Housekeeping, Caterers, Hall Committee, etc.
