What are Bristol students doing 6 months after graduating?

Every year we survey all UK first degree graduates approximately six months after they completed their course. Here are the most recent figures:

    6.4% travelling
  •  
    5.6% unemployed
  •  
    1.6% due to start a job in next month
  •  
    0.7% part-time further study
  •  
    0.6% doing something else

This information has historically been collected as part of the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education survey.

The last of these surveys took place in early 2018, and it has been replaced by the Graduate Outcomes survey. The first these surveys will take place in late 2018, with data published in late 2020.

Main employers

Bristol graduates were working for a wide range of employers, with over 1,200 different firms recruiting our leavers from 2016/17.

  • Lloyds Banking Group
  • Rolls Royce

47.5% of those who were employed had a permanent or open-ended contract, with a further 24.3% working under a fixed-term contract of 12 months or longer.
