Studying at the School of Biochemistry

The School of Biochemistry is one of the best departments of its kind in the UK and has an international reputation for excellence in biochemical research. Our teaching is informed by a wealth of wide-ranging and cutting edge research activity dating back to the school’s origins in 1964, ensuring our undergraduate students receive rigorous and relevant tuition via a mixture of lectures, small tutorials and practical sessions.

Our students have access to state-of-the-art teaching facilities, thanks in part to the faculty's status as a UK Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). We recruit talented students and provide them with a stimulating environment in which to gain a strong grounding in basic science that is highly valued by the medical sector and industry.
