Student Rooms

Most accommodation corridors house 12 students in single study bedrooms. The rooms are all similar in style and size, with a set of built-in cupboards and shelf space.  In the 250 rooms with built-in wash handbasins there is proportionately less shelf space.  A rough guide to room dimension is 3.5m x 2.5m - this is only approximate and can vary.

From the electrical socket only a three pin four-gang extension box may be used.  Trailing wires are not permitted in student rooms therefore care should be taken in deciding what equipment may be brought to Hall.

Making a home from home - girl's roomOn arrival each student is given a detailed inventory form.  They need to survey their room carefully to note any defects that are present, prior to off loading their belongings.  After the inventory has been handed in, the condition of the room will be measured against this declaration.  Costs to reinstate damage over and above normal wear and tear will be made to the occupier at the end of the year.

The wardrobe is approximately 1m 20cms in width with hanging space and a free standing set of drawers inside.  There are two small top cupboards for storage and shelf space too.

Every room is carpeted and will contain:

Students are asked NOT to bring additional items of furniture to Hall, nor drapes of any kind.  For Health & Safety no furniture should be positioned in such a way that the room heater is, in any way, obstructed.

There is beneath the beds a space of approximately 22cm providing valuable additional storage.

Students have responsibility for the cleanliness of their rooms and all the washing up.  Vacuum cleaners are provided for each floor in the accommodation units.  Hall staff will clean the corridors and communal facilities.
