Leaving at the End of the Year
So often at the end of the year students leave in a rush; by not checking carefully they incur unnecessary charges or lose items of value. To help avoid this happening make sure you cover the following points:
The final day for Badock residents will be Friday 6 July. All rooms must be vacated by 12 noon.
ACTION NOW
- complete a departure form and deliver this to the Hall Office, hard copy available in Main Reception
- you should ensure Hall has a minimum of 10 days' notice prior to your departure date
- therefore anyone not leaving Hall until Friday 6 July is required to confirm this no later than Friday 29 June
NOTE: your room will be placed on an inventory check schedule and made ready for conference occupation as soon as you depart, therefore it is important you give an accurate departure date.
- register your bank account details on line - for the return of your damage deposit balance in August
- https://www.bris.ac.uk/studentinfo/bankDetails
- notify friends, family, your bank and all on line suppliers of your new address - items received after your departure will be returned to sender unless you pay for them to be forwarded
BEFORE YOU LEAVE HALL
- make sure you have cleared right to the back of each cupboard and behind every drawer
- every personal item has been packed
- the carpet is properly vacuumed
- all surfaces are clean and dust free
- if you want post forwarded you have supplied the Hall Office with a self-addressed, stamped A4 envelope - large envelope stamp
- if you have any unwanted text books and are happy to donate these to the Badock Library - leave them with the Hall Office
- the day before you go make sure you have collected all your post items - letters and/or parcels
ON DAY OF DEPARTURE
- see that your room is absolutely empty and free from rubbish
- re-cycle all possible items
- empty the brown bin into the appropriate (non-recycling) container
- double-check you have left behind no personal items at all
- take your belongings from the pantry
- check nothing is left in the bathroom or drying room
- remove any of your food from fridge and dispose of it
- firmly shut your room door, check it is locked and take your keys to the Main Reception
- place the keys in the envelope provided (these envelopes are listed in room order and in a box on table in Badock Main Reception)
- seal envelope and post the keys through the Hall Office letterbox
- do not leave your keys with anyone to hand in for you
- because access will be required to all our rooms early in the vacation vacation, charges will apply to sets of keys not returned on departure - do make sure you leave them on departurel
