Feeling unwell during the day and not attending lectures
Ring Kate or Lucie in the Hall office on 32480 internal number
(0117) 903 2480. They will contact your academic department and advise them you are unwell. In exceptional circumstances they will make the arrangements for you to see Student Health, but you should normally expect to call and make the appointment yourself on
(0117) 330 2720.
Problem with your room - reporting faults
Whether it is a faulty light bulb, accidental damage or a heating/plumbing problem you should fill out a GREEN Defect/Repairs form - to be found hanging below the post pigeonholes in main reception and hand this in to the Hall Office. A porter or other member of support staff will be asked to attend and rectify the problem as quickly as possible.
Internal telephone/ResNet not working
Report the problem to the Hall Office. In the first instance you will be given a new phone, but if this does not rectify the fault then you will be advised an email address to make a report yourself. As soon as the central Communications Office has ensured all is back in working order they will email you direct.
Damage in Hall
When damage is sustained to buildings, rooms or corridors, this should be reported at once to a member of reception staff or a duty senior resident in the evening so that the need for repairs can reported. If it is a late night emergency, after 23:30hrs this should be dealt with by Security on (0117) 928 78480.
Damage that requires repair must be reported by email to Kate.Strong@bristol.ac.uk and a message on the answerphone internal number 32485 for action the next morning. Please give your room number and the exact location and description of the damage. This will ensure that Rita Rawlings, the Accommodation Manager, can organise repairs first thing the following working day.
Feeling stressed and unable to cope
Your unit tutor is available most evenings to talk over problems. If you feel you need to see the Warden, then Mrs Evans is happy to meet students and appointments can be made via the Hall Office to see her when she is available. As she is a Teaching Fellow in the French Department she has teaching commitments most days, but she will always do her best to re-organise her diary to see anyone who wants an urgent interview.
Fee payments and dates
If you have a query about payment you can seek advice from the Hall Office, but all payments should be made direct to the Finance Income Office in Senate House, Tyndall Avenue, Clifton.
