Guarantors are required by most letting agencies and some landlords. A guarantor is a person who agrees to pay rent or damages if the tenant does not make payment. For students, this is often parents or guardians but this can be difficult for international students and staff as most agents require your guarantor to be UK based.

The University has established a relationship with Housing Hand, a company that offer a fully comprehensive guarantor service available to all students and staff. Whether you are from the UK or from abroad, you can qualify for Housing Hand guarantor service on some conditions.

If you are a student, you will be asked to provide:

  • proof of study in the UK
  • a photo ID
  • cosigner's details and documents

How to apply

The University has arranged a set price for all University of Bristol students of £225 or £30 over 8 monthly instalments. To find out more about the service and to apply visit the Housing Hand website.
