UK Agri-Tech Centre

As part of the UK Agri Tech Centre, CIEL’s former research strengths now contribute to a national network of world class facilities and expertise, supporting the development and testing of industry focused solutions.

About

The University of Bristol joined the CIEL consortium in April 2016. The Centre for Innovation Excellence in Livestock (CIEL) formally merged with Agri‑EPI and CHAP to create the UK Agri‑Tech Centre, launched on 1 April 2024. This merger brings together the UK’s leading agri‑tech capabilities across livestock, crops, engineering, and precision agriculture, forming the nation’s largest dedicated agri‑tech organisation.

Livestock research is based at the Veterinary School on the Langford campus. There are facilities and expertise to carry out laboratory, welfare and behaviour research in both basic and applied fields for all livestock species at Langford and at the Clifton campus in Bristol.
