Modern zoology is a dynamic, integrative field. From molecular mechanisms that underpin life to ecological interactions that shape entire ecosystems, our BSc Zoology with a Professional Placement course gives you the opportunity to explore the full depth and breadth of animal biology.

You'll explore genetics, physiology, behaviour and evolution. You'll also develop the analytical and practical skills needed to understand animals in their natural environments and in the context of global challenges, such as biodiversity loss and climate change.

This four-year course is an expansion of BSc Zoology. It enables you to spend your third year gaining experience in industry.

This course is only available by transfer. To apply, make your application to BSc Zoology and register your interest to add a professional placement once you have joined us.

Placement opportunities are based on first-year examination results and a successful application to a participating employer. This is a student-led process and our expert team will support you to secure a competitive placement. Throughout your placement, you'll receive mentoring and training to help you develop professional skills and get the most from this rare opportunity.

Access to HE Diploma in Science, Biomedical/Medical/Health Science or Psychology (or similar titles). The 45 graded Level 3 credits must include: at least 21 credits at Distinction and 24 at Merit or above; and at least 12 credits (with 9 at Distinction) from units in one science and at least 12 credits (with 9 at Distinction) from units in another science

Requirements are as for A-levels, where you can substitute a non-subject specific grade for the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales or the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate at that grade.
Requirements for principal subjects are as for A-level, where D1/D2 is A*, D3 is A, M1/M2 is B, and M3 is C.
