About BSc Economics and Accounting with Study Abroad
This course allows you to combine subjects from the School of Economics and the School of Accounting and Finance with the benefit of one year abroad.
The School of Accounting and Finance prepares you for a career in the accountancy profession or financial markets through access to subjects accredited by several professional accountancy bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Additionally, you will be prepared for a career as an economist, studying in a School of Economics run by world-leading experts.
Places on the course are allocated on merit depending on first-year examination results and availability of spaces at destination universities.
This course provides rewarding opportunities to participate in summer internships and the Bristol PLUS Award. You will also benefit from the faculty's Professional Liaison Network, which runs a professional mentoring scheme with alumni, insight talks and internships.

Course structure
In the first year, the focus is on strengthening your mathematical and problem-solving skills. You will study fundamental principles and practices and will learn about contemporary issues emerging in accounting and financial markets by studying accounting and finance in context. You can choose from a range of optional units and can take an optional unit from a different school.
Building on the first year while advancing your knowledge, the second year emphasises problem-solving and application skills. Units currently include Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Principles of Finance, Applied Quantitative Research Methods, Macroeconomics and Microeconomic Analysis.
You will spend your third year abroad, boosting your personal development while adding an international perspective to your studies.
The final year consolidates the acquired skills while developing your critical skills and deepening your knowledge of complex issues in the core areas of accounting and finance. Currently, units include Management Accounting for Strategy and Advanced Financial Reporting, as well as a range of optional units.
