The Children and Families Research Centre (CFRC) is one of seven research centres based in the School for Policy Studies at the University of Bristol. The Centre brings together academics and PhD students working on various aspects of childhoods and family life, especially as they relate to child and family welfare, health and social care, poverty and inequalities, care and justice systems, youth transitions, parenting, and education. Staff reflect different disciplinary perspectives, including social policy, social work, sociology, and psychology and their research cuts across both national and global contexts. As part of showcasing the work undertaken within the Centre we are organising two online seminars which aim to illuminate research conducted by Centre members and their partners centred around the theme of caring and being cared for in relation to child and family research within the UK and more internationally.

Seminar 2 will comprise the following two presentations:

  • Dr. Dinithi Wijedasa -The mental health of children and young people in care in England: Longitudinal patterns and associated factors.
  • Dr. Vicky Sharley (University of Bristol), Dr. Janet Ananias, Dr. Emma Leonard and Dr. Elizabeth Ngololo (University of Namibia) - The Perivoli Schools Trust Education and Child Care Model: exploring communities’ lived experiences and the wider social and environmental impacts in Namibia.
