Centre for Engaged Languages and Cultures
The Centre for Engaged Languages and Cultures (ELC) is about making connections, building relationships and generating new ideas. We offer guidance, support and inspiration on how Modern Languages can meet the needs of societies and cultures in Bristol and around the world.
To this end, we foster exchange and collaboration between colleagues in the School of Modern Languages and non-academic communities and stakeholders, such as local businesses, schools, charities, thinktanks and policymakers. Working closely with the Impact Development Team, PolicyBristol and the Brigstow Institute, the Centre encourages and supports impact development and public engagement, we help to initiate, discuss, and advance projects that reach and affect non-academic audiences. Events hosted by the Centre seek to engage colleagues from across the School, including the Postgraduate Research community, to facilitate networking and generate new ideas and approaches. Furthermore, the Centre offers guidance on collaborations with non-academic partners, grant applications and impact-focused research outputs.
