University of Bristol Postgraduate Research Scholarships

We are delighted to offer fully-funded Science and Engineering PhD Scholarships to support the most talented students from across the globe to come and realise their research ambitions with us.

You'll have the opportunity to complete your PhD programme under the supervision of our internationally recognised and respected researchers.

Applications for the following scholarships are open for the 26/27 academic year, with an initial deadline across all Science and Engineering schools of 19 January 2026.

Science

Eight (Bristol Postgraduate Research Scholarships, and 12 EPSRC Doctoral Landscape Awards are available.

Funding for all scholarships

The Bristol Postgraduate Research Scholarship funding covers full fees, a stipend at UKRI (UK Research and Innovation) rates (£20,780 for 25/26) for living expenses, and up to £2,100 per year for research expenses, for a registration period of 4 years.

The EPSRC Doctoral Landscape Award (DLA) funding covers full fees, a stipend at UKRI (UK Research and Innovation) rates (£20,780 for 25/26) for living expenses, and up to £7,000 in total for research expenses, for a registration period of 3.5 years.

We also have an EPSRC Studentship available for Black and Caribbean heritage Home students which covers fees, a stipend at UKRI (UK Research and Innovation) rates (£20,780 for 25/26) for living expenses and up to £2,000 per year for research expenses, for 3.5 years.  

Applicants who identify as Black or mixed Black Heritage and who wish to be considered for an EPSRC DLA Scholarship in the Faculty of Science and Engineering should complete the application form at Science and Engineering PGR Black and mixed-Black Heritage Scholarship 26/27 - Student Form by Tuesday 24th February 2026.
