Energy Systems
Low carbon, renewable-based energy systems are critical to meet our climate change obligations and support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. These systems require a complete change in approach from our current energy system, with more distributed generation based on variable power sources, increased demands from electrification of systems such as transportation, alongside the reliability, robustness and sustainability that we require from our energy.
Research Projects
- Energy Systems IntegrationThe Centre for Energy Systems Integration (CESI) aim is to reduce the risks associated with securing an integrated energy system for the UK.
- Energy TransitionsTransitioning from traditional energy options to low-carbon sources is critical if we are to meet climate change targets and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Examining how these transitions occur in different communities and cultures to a range of energy services enables a range of appropriate methods to be developed to support this change.
- Supergen Energy Networks HubThe Supergen Energy Networks Hub brings together the vibrant and diverse energy networks community to gain a deeper understanding of the interactions and inter-dependencies of energy networks.
