Smoking cessation in opportunistic settings
Team: Olivia Maynard, Angela Attwood
Overview: Smoking remains one of the largest causes of preventable death worldwide. While smoking prevalence has been on the decline in the UK, there are greater levels of smoking among disadvantaged groups and, as such, it contributes to widening health inequality. To help meet long-term smoking objectives (i.e., reducing smoking prevalence to under 5% by 2030), smoking cessation support is being offered opportunistically in settings where other services are offered (e.g., housing services, NHS appointments). This project explores how to best implement smoking cessation support in targeted lung health checks.
