Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE)
It is important that our research meets the needs of the people it is designed to help. To achieve this, it is essential we have input from these people - including people with lived experience of the things we are studying or people delivering services (e.g., nurses, community organisations). In TARG we have developed an initiative called “It Takes a Village” to highlight how important it is that our research incorporates the views of those that it affects and how research cannot happen without the involvement of many people across the University of Bristol and in the public.
Public engagement
We are always looking for ways to share information with the public on the work we do in TARG.
Here are some photos from previous public engagement events we have taken part in across Bristol.

To keep up to date on what we are doing please follow our LinkedIn page: https://www.linkedin.com/company/translational-and-applied-research-group-targ.
Upcoming events: Please check back for any upcoming public engagement events.
How the public help shape our research
Help shape our research:
We may occasionally post opportunities to get involved in shaping research across the themes in TARG so please do check back for updates. This could include providing suggestions for the focus of research, helping us design questionnaires, or giving us input on what the findings of our research mean.
Current opportunities:
We are looking for individuals who would be interested in shaping research around alcohol, smoking and/or vaping. If you are interested, please find out more and sign up to our contact list using this form: Your voice matters!. Please note you must be over 18 years old and live in the UK to take part.
If you have any questions then please contact targ-admin@bristol.ac.uk.
The TARG Van
We often use our TARG van/mobile laboratory for our public engagement or involvement events.

You can find out more about our van, including how to hire for your own public involvement and engagement (or research) here: https://www.bristol.ac.uk/psychology/research/brain/targ/targ-mobile-lab/
