Research groups

The School of Psychology and Neuroscience hosts, and works closely with, a wide range of multi-disciplinary research groups, units, institutes, and centres. These include world leading confederations of scientists undertaking cutting edge research in to behaviour, cognition, health, neurology, and endocrinology.

  • Cerebrovascular and Dementia Research Group
Our research aims to better understand the pathophysiology of dementia and translate basic laboratory findings into therapeutic interventions.
  • Nutrition and Behaviour Unit (NBU)
The Nutrition and Behaviour Unit has been established since 2006 and it forms one of the largest groups of its kind studying human food choice, dietary behaviour and appetite control.
  • Translational and Applied Research Group (TARG)
Originally established in 2007, we explore the psychological and biological factors that drive health-related behaviours, with a particular focus on nicotine and tobacco use, alcohol, other drugs, mental health, and neurodiversity. Our research has shaped legislation and public health policies in the UK and internationally.
