The group's remit will be to check and advise on the foundational elements of the child poverty strategy which the government aims to publish next year. An early focus for this group will be on understanding the extent and causes of poverty, the effects of deprivation and the best ways to tackle these. The first meeting of the group will take place towards the end of October 2024.
