Recruitment and Selection

To ensure fairness of opportunity, it is important to consider the potential effects of unconscious bias on the recruitment process. We have several resources in place to ensure that we are offering a fair, robust and transparent recruitment process for all roles.

We are committed to offering a fair and transparent recruitment process for all roles available within our School, ensuring that every potential applicant has a fair platform to succeed. Our recruitment process adheres to the University's recruitment guidelines and all staff are required to complete an Inclusive Recruitment and Selection course/training before they can begin leading a hiring process.

Join Our Team

We believe in providing a welcoming, supportive and inclusive working environment in which all of our staff can thrive. Visit the Join Our Team page for a comprehensive overview of resources related to academic and professional services roles in the school, as well as information on how you can apply to join us and the support we can offer during the recruitment process.

How We Support Our Academic Staff

The School of Physics is dedicated to supporting our team of academic staff in their career development. We want to assist our researchers by pointing them in the direction of the resources available in terms of funding, support and training. Our dedicated Academic Support page shows the schemes and procedures we have in place to support our academics to develop and grow within their roles to the best of their potential.

Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct is intended to define positive behaviours that the School wishes to promote across all staff working within Physics. It is also designed to empower members to set boundaries for themselves. The document acts as an accompanying resource to the University-wide code on acceptable behaviour and the School of Physics staff handbook, and this code of conduct is adhered to throughout our recruitment processes.
