School of Mathematics welcomes appointment of Professor Christine Currie as next Scientific Director of the KE Hub

The School of Mathematics at the University of Bristol welcomes the announcement that Professor Christine Currie has been appointed as the next Scientific Director of the UK Knowledge Exchange Hub for Mathematical Sciences (KE Hub), taking up the role on 1 April 2027.

The appointment comes at an exciting time for the KE Hub as it moved its administrative centre to University of Bristol in February 2026.  The School looks forward to supporting Professor Currie as the Hub continues to expand opportunities for collaboration between academic researchers and external organisations, ensuring that mathematical sciences expertise delivers impact across society and the economy.

Professor Currie succeeds Professor Chris Breward, who has provided leadership since the KE Hub was established.

Professor Oliver Johnson, Head of School of Mathematics:  "The KE Hub plays a vital role in helping mathematicians collaborate with industry to solve important problems together. We thank Professor Breward for all his hard work in making the Hub a success so far, and look forward to working with Professor Currie on the next part of its story."
