Gaositwe Chiepe
Gaositwe Chiepe is a politician from Botswana and alum of University of Bristol. She graduated with a Master's degree from the University in 1958.
In the early 1970s, she was appointed as the High Commissioner to the UK and Nigeria and became the first female Cabinet member in Botswana when she was elected as a Member of Parliament in 1974.
She went on to work in several governmental positions in Botswana, including the Minister of Trade and Industry, Foreign Minister, and Minister of Education.
In 1972, the University of Bristol awarded Chiepe an honorary Doctorate degree.
