Think Big about Research is a scholarship for international students studying a master’s by research degree. As a research-intensive university, and following our recent recognition as Research University of the Year, we are delighted to extend our prestigious Think Big scholarship programme to provide opportunities for postgraduate research students.

The Bristol Doctoral College offers dedicated support and advice for postgraduate researchers across the University, as well as training and development opportunities and social events which will help you connect with other students across a range of disciplines.

What’s included

Think Big about Research provides a discount towards your first year’s tuition fees;

For students starting in September 2027, there are 10 awards available:

• 5 awards of £13,000 for the first year of study;
• 5 awards of £6,500 for the first year of study.

Eligibility

You can apply if you:

• have applied to any full-time master's by research programme delivered in person at the University of Bristol;
• are classed as an overseas student for fee-paying purposes;

You do not need to have an offer to study before submitting an international scholarship application.
