Genetics in drug discovery and development:
what has GWAS ever done for us?

Abstract

I will discuss a number of recent projects investigating the genetic aetiology of disease and how findings are applied to bring genetic evidence to support both therapeutic target discovery and validation.

Biography

Robert Scott is a Senior Scientist at GSK, based in Stevenage. Robert recently joined GSK from the MRC Epidemiology Unit in Cambridge and works to bring genetic evidence to support drug discovery and development. Particular interests include use of large-scale real-world studies to support target validation as well as the application of Mendelian randomisation to drug development.
