Lewis will discuss perceptions of masculinity and what this means with respect to men recognising the need for help, asking for help and where to seek help, particularly in relation mental health.
Lewis is an academic and social psychologist: a visiting lecturer at UWE, and manages Project Zazi. He has been involved in: Black Bristol; Mendable (a podcast founded from his 'The Crisis of Masculinity' TEDx talk, exploring taken-for-granted assumptions of masculinity); Masculinities (a Project Zazi workshop series providing a therapeutic space for young men in Bristol to explore their masculinity).
International Men’s Day (19 Nov) celebrates the value men bring, highlighting positive role models and raising awareness of men’s well-being. The 2023 theme is “Zero Male Suicide” - 'Together we can stop male suicide'.
