Internal/External Advertising update

With effect from 1 June 2023 and as Resourcing and the HR Employee Services hub move to new ways of working, the University will be moving to concurrent internal and external advertising for all open-ended Professional Services roles once the Redeployment process has been exhausted. This includes all admin & clerical, operational and technical vacant positions regardless of grade.

This is a positive move which will contribute to the diversification of our workforce as well as streamline process and reduce the time taken to hire to vacant posts and replicates something we had already implemented for more senior roles at grade K and above.

It will be possible for managers to request that ‘internal only’ advertising be selected for any professional services role that is being offered as a Fixed Term/secondment opportunity for a maximum duration of 12 months. This is an optional step for managers to consider and not a requirement but where appropriate will still give staff first access to valuable development opportunities.

We will communicate again shortly about some improvements we will be introducing to the redeployment process that will offer a better experience for both the ‘at risk’ candidate and the hiring manager.

If you have any queries on this, please contact Alison Wall (Head of People Partnering) or Liam Taylor (Resourcing Manager).
