Renewable Power Generation
The UK Department of Business 2017 Industrial Strategy review highlights the move to cleaner economic growth through low carbon technologies is one of the greatest industrial challenges and opportunities of our time. Our research encompasses highly efficient renewable energy power conversion technologies and the design of affordable, locally manufactured and maintainable energy capture for emerging communities.
High efficiency wind and hydro capture
We undertake novel designs of renewable energy conversion equipment bespoke to defined customer and location needs. Examples include a 97% efficient contra-rotating wind energy generator supplied with a grid-tied converter interface. A low head pico-hydro scheme involved the systematic design of a low-cost water turbine and the electrical generator for Nepal, suited to local manufacture capabilities.
