This interdisciplinary research project examines the potential of soft robotics to support communication and to act as communication aids that go beyond verbal forms of expression and recognize embodied, multimodal and nuanced forms of communication in a variety of learning contexts. Originally developed as part of Brigstow Institute’s Robotics and Everyday Life workshops and funded by EPSRC Impact Accelerator Award funded, the project involved partners from the Bristol Robotics Lab, Air Giants, Bristol Speech & Language Therapy Research Unit and the School of Education.
