BÆM is a series of independent workshops organised by the School of Economics to bring together leading applied economists from Europe and beyond. The 2027 edition has two meetings.
Meeting on the Economics of Crime, Violence, and Conflict, 4 and 5 May
The meeting welcomes work on criminal behaviour, policing, judicial decisions, prisons and reintegration, gender-based and domestic violence, political violence and armed conflict. Keynote speakers are Emily Nix (USC Marshall School of Business) and Paolo Pinotti (Bocconi). The organisers are Eleonora Guarnieri (Senior Lecturer) and Arnaud Philippe (Associate Professor) from the School of Economics.
Meeting on Development Economics, 6 and 7 May
The meeting covers the full range of development economics, including agriculture, education, the environment, gender, health, inequality, labour, migration, political economy, poverty and trade. Keynote speakers are Diana van Patten (Yale School of Management) and Benjamin Marx (Boston University). The organisers are Leandro de Magalhaes (Senior Lecturer) and Sebastian Ellingsen (Lecturer) from the School of Economics.
Submissions
