Luca Moranzoni & Jon Cowie – GDC Registered Specialist Endodontists
Luca and Jon are GDC registered specialist endodontists and co-founders of Contemporary Endodontics, an educational platform they established in 2015 dedicated to advancing endodontic practice globally.
Luca grew up between Italy and France before moving to the UK for his studies. He completed his specialist training at The Eastman Dental Institute (UCL), obtaining his MClinDent in Endodontics and passing the MEndo examination with the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. Jon, originally from Cornwall, has been based in the Bath area for over 15 years. He completed a postgraduate diploma in Endodontics at The Royal London Hospital before obtaining his MClinDent in Endodontics with Distinction at King's College London, also passing the MEndo with the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.
Both are partners at Circus Dental, where they have collectively been accepting endodontic referrals for over a decade, covering all aspects of root canal treatment including retreatment, surgical endodontics, and trauma cases. Their shared clinical philosophy centres on contemporary, restoratively driven endodontics — prioritising maximum tooth structure preservation to optimise long-term outcomes. All treatments are delivered using 3D scanning technologies, Zeiss dental operating microscopes, and the latest clinically relevant adjuncts. Both serve as global Key Opinion Leaders for Dentsply Sirona.
Through Contemporary Endodontics, Luca and Jon have trained thousands of dentists via small-group courses, international lectures, and their online platform at www.contemporaryendo.com. They remain actively involved in postgraduate teaching at King's College London, The Eastman Dental Institute, Bristol Dental School, Health Education England, and the Southwest Deanery.

Focus on the challenging endodontic scenarios that present to daily clinical practice.

Course Objectives
- Describe glide path principles and articulate the clinical rationale for glide path preparation, including when it is essential and when it may be bypassed
- Demonstrate safe and effective use of the Reciproc Blue and Minima systems in a standard canal morphology under simulated clinical conditions
- Recognise the radiographic and clinical features that indicate a calcified canal and select an appropriate management protocol
- Apply the Reciproc Minima system using the designated calcified canal protocol on a simulated calcified block
- Identify the causation and classification of ledge formation and describe strategies for bypass and correction
- Execute a ledge bypass technique using Reciproc Blue or Minima and appropriate hand file adjuncts on a simulated ledged block
- Navigate S-shaped canal morphology using a structured instrument sequence, demonstrating controlled progression without transportation
- Apply techniques for deep margin management and appropriate matrix selection in posterior teeth with compromised coronal structure
- Outline a structured approach to the hot pulp / emergency patient, including pharmacological and procedural options for effective pain control
