Frequently asked questions
Will Turing funding cover all expenses of my programme?
The grant is intended as a contribution to assist with the additional costs of studying/working/volunteering abroad, and should not be relied on as the sole source of your funding.
What are the criteria for the 'Enhanced Rate'?
Home students that are either:
(a) defined as disadvantaged by the Turing Scheme.
(b) in student groups that are underrepresented in Higher Education international mobility.
(c) in student groups for which there are gaps in attainment and achievement at UoB, and gaps in graduate outcomes, as detailed above in the disadvantaged students (former rate B) section.
I pay international fees at Bristol – am I still able to apply?
Yes. Students from all nationalities and backgrounds are welcome to apply for Turing Scheme funding.
Do you provide any additional funding for SEND students?
Yes, additional funding may be available for applicants with special educational or additional needs or a disability. Please be sure to indicate any specific support needed as part of your application. Turing SEND funding cannot, however, be claimed for expenses incurred which are already covered by the Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA).
When will I receive my grant?
Grant payments will only be made following submission and processing of all the required paperwork. Successful students will be informed of the relevant timelines in their offer letter. Students are not expected to make upfront payments until after they have received their Turing funding.
If I meet all the eligibility criteria, will I definitely be offered Turing funding?
No, it is still a competitive application which you will need to consider carefully. However, over the last two years we have awarded over 80% of applicants an offer of Turing funding for one of our approved programmes.
