Joseph Daron

Joe’s focus is on innovation in the development of climate services. His research is interdisciplinary, spanning physical and social sciences, working across diverse contexts to understand how to best synthesise, communicate and integrate climate information into decision-making and policy. Previous work has included advancing new approaches for communicating climate information across seasonal to climate change timescales, assessing interpretation of different types of climate information, and understanding the role of different actors in the development and delivery of climate services. His work involves collaborating with organisations across the world, primarily in Africa and Asia. At the Met Office Joe manages a team of scientists delivering on a range of climate services projects across the world. Joe is currently the UK Lead Scientist for the Weather and Climate Science for Service Partnership (WCSSP) South Africa project which is strengthening scientific collaborations amongst the UK and South African weather and climate science and services communities. He is also contributing to the seventh assessment report (AR7) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as a Lead Author for Working Group I Chapter 10: Climate Information and Services.
