JITSUVAX Training: Improving vaccine conversations
Misinformation and vaccine hesitancy are on the rise, and health workers often lack the tools to respond effectively. This can lead to missed vaccinations, staff stress, and a rise in preventable illness. JITSUVAX Training equips health workers to effectively navigate vaccine conversations, to build trust, correct misinformation, and support informed decisions.
JITSUVAX Training is a non-profit training enterprise set up to support health workers to navigate conversations about vaccines and misinformation more effectively.
In lively, interactive and practical workshops, JITSUVAX Training teaches how to apply the evidence-based Empathetic Refutational Interview (ERI) to real world vaccine conversations. The ERI is a four-step conversation framework developed from years of international research. It is unique in combining proven communication techniques with best practices for correcting misinformation, underpinned by a respect for the psychological drivers (‘attitude roots’) behind people’s vaccine concerns.
Trainees gain the tools to:
- Tailor the conversation by identifying the ‘attitude roots’ behind vaccine concerns
- Build trust and rapport using affirmation techniques
- Replace misconceptions with credible, acceptable alternatives
- Share facts effectively: at the right moment and in the right way
- Make every minute count in time-pressured consultations
