About the School of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences

We are the School of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences at Bristol. We study life at molecular and cellular levels and translate that understanding into real world impact.

Our work brings together expertise from structural biology to developmental and tissue biology. We collaborate across fields to tackle questions in areas such as cancer, infectious disease and antimicrobial resistance, as well as genome biology, protein homeostasis and engineering biology.

We value openness, curiosity and collaboration, and support our staff and students to carry out ambitious, responsible research.

Our teaching is shaped by this research. Across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in biochemistry and the biomedical sciences, students engage with current research and build the knowledge, skills and independence for careers in science, healthcare, biotechnology and beyond.
