Pedagogic research culture

Building pedagogic research capacity involves supporting staff to critically evaluate, investigate and enhance teaching and learning through evidence-informed practice. This includes engaging with pedagogic literature, evaluating educational interventions and sharing insights and innovations within and beyond the institution (Boyer, 1990; Felten, 2013). At the University of Bristol, this approach is reflected in BILT’s commitment to fostering a culture in which teaching is valued as a scholarly and collaborative activity that contributes to student learning, curriculum enhancement and educational innovation. 

Developing pedagogic research capacity enables staff to make informed decisions about curriculum and assessment design, evaluate the impact of their practice and contribute to wider sector knowledge and enhancement.
