Our award winning technical team is renowned in anatomical science techniques.

Bristol Anatomy is home to thousands of human and veterinary specimens that have been carefully preserved, prepares and maintained over many years by the Bristol Anatomy Technical team who have honed their trade and become experts in this field. These beautifully preserved, dissected, mounted and potted specimens are displayed in our comparative and human museums.

Our highly skilled technical team:

  • Prepares and preserves our collections: including potted specimens, osteological articulations and skeletal collections, corrosion casts, prosthetics, taxidermy animals, radiographs, microscope slides and odontological specimens
  • Supports student teaching activities in human and veterinary dissection and imaging suites
  • Supports specialist surgical courses in current courses
  • Provides specimen preparation, renovation and repair and osteological articulation training to other technical professionals
  • Delivers and trains student prosectorships in collaboration with the Academic Lead

Our technical team have been commended with awards in dissection, museum work, teaching contributions and service excellence. Notable awards include:

  • Papin prize: Contribution to Teaching, Highly Commended
  • The Institute of Anatomical Sciences: Marjorie England Dissection Prize, Terrence Williamson Museum Prize.
