Student Academic Voice Group

Purpose

The main purposes of the Group are to:

  • develop a shared vision for taught student academic voice at Bristol SU and University of Bristol;
  • make recommendations around student academic voice/representation policy, processes and practice.

Terms of Reference 

  1. Consider embedded and effective formal and informal academic taught student voice mechanisms across all University academic related activities and processes.
  2. Consider the inclusivity of academic student voice practices and how under-represented groups are represented within them. 
  3. Consider key measures of academic student voice (including internal / external surveys and other feedback) and make recommendations as appropriate.
  4. Review feedback from staff and students on the representative system and develop approaches to increasing student approval / satisfaction regarding the student voice questions in the NSS and PTES surveys.

Mode of Operation

The Group will meet approximately four times per year.
The Group will liaise with the Student Academic Representation Network (SARN)
Student Rep members will be recompensed for their time.

There is a SharePoint site for members as well as a general SharePoint site on Student Representation.

Reporting line/s

University: The Group reports to University Academic Quality & Standards Committee and will regularly share information with University Teaching and Learning Committee.
Bristol SU: Informal reporting to Bristol Students' Union Executive Leadership Team
