Quantum Technologies Innovation Centre
A new Quantum Technologies Innovation Centre (QTIC) will be one of the most exciting developments on our new campus. Positioning Bristol as a world leader in this technology, it will build on our world-leading research in disruptive quantum technologies, providing specialist facilities and expertise for businesses.
QTIC will be at the forefront of developing the technologies to deliver the next generation of products that will affect our daily lives.
Research will focus on the development of quantum devices for highly secure communications, new sensors for environmental monitoring, simulators to design new materials and ultra-powerful computers to tackle challenges in big data.
These new technologies will impact upon on all major commercial sectors, including defence, finance, aerospace, energy and information and communications technology in ways that cannot yet be predicted.
An open-access facility
The centre is the world's first dedicated open access innovation facility. Businesses can access 'pay-as-you-go' incubator labs, office space and state of the art equipment, supported by experts in a range of business, technology and manufacturing areas.
Our partners include the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership, the University of Bristol and industry partners including Airbus Defence and Space and Boeing Defence UK. Airbus will be exploring areas such as satellite communications and precision sensing.
