Matt Ford, BSc (Hons) Social Policy, 2013
I really enjoyed studying Social Policy at Bristol.
The course provided me with an in-depth knowledge of the key concepts and theories that underpin social policies. More importantly, the course gave me the ability to approach social issues critically, challenging all the assumptions that I took for granted.
This is essential to my role as a policy and research assistant at a small third sector organisation. I mainly carry out secondary data analysis for various projects and publications. I also scope out topics to help colleagues begin to answer research questions.
There are lots of opportunities to meet academics and other policy researchers to really challenge my perspective. It’s an extremely fulfilling role and I definitely owe the staff at Bristol for providing me with the skills and confidence to get it.
