In its report published in November 2009 the General Medical Council (GMC) praised many aspects of the teaching in Primary Care. In particular the GMC praised the enthusiasm and quality of the GP teachers, the one-to-one relationships with the GP teacher, the development of student logbooks in Primary Care, the teaching of communication skills (delivered by Primary Care) and the opportunities for creative expression.
The Centre for Academic Primary Care is involved in many different points in the MB ChB curriculum, across the five academic years and according to two vertical teaching themes.
Medical students can also undertake student-selected components (SSCs) and electives in primary health care.
