The UK league table reveals that Bristol has climbed more places than any other university in the top 30.
In a separate listing, 23 out of Bristol’s 39 subjects are ranked in the top 10 for their discipline, up from 19 in last year’s guide.
Among the subjects which ranked highly are Sociology (2nd), general Engineering (Bristol's Engineering Design course; 3rd), Aerospace Engineering (4th) and Dentistry (4th).
The Complete University Guide is a widely-respected and cited online ranking of over 140 UK universities in one main table, plus 70 individual subject tables to help students compare courses at different universities.
Its main table is based on 10 measures: student satisfaction, research quality, research intensity, entry standards, student/staff ratio; spending on academic services; spending on student facilities; good honours degrees; graduate prospects and completion.
Professor Hugh Brady, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Bristol, said: "At Bristol, we pride ourselves on the quality of our students, our world-leading research and our inspiring and stretching research-rich learning environment. It's very pleasing to see this recognised in the Complete University Guide.
"The rise of seven places is testament to the terrific hard work and commitment of all our staff. Our new University Strategy commits to building further on these strengths through unprecedented investment in the quality of the Bristol student experience. This is a welcome accolade as we look to the future."
It comes as new data from the QS World University Rankings by Subject, which highlights the world's top universities in a range of popular subject areas, confirms that 29 subjects taught by the University of Bristol are highly rated within the world’s top 100.
