Press release issued: 13 February 2017

The Bristol intervarsity moot team returned from Warwick with another intervarsity moot competition award.

Ife Kubler-Agyemang (final year LLB student) and George Aubrey (second year LLB student) represented the Bristol Law School for the first time in the International Law and IP Moot Competition that took place at Warwick in February 2017. Ife’s and George’s excellent performance against the University of Warwick and University of Liverpool convinced the judges, who announced that the winner of the competition was Bristol!

The competition was based on a submission to the International Court of Justice regarding matters involving international law and intellectual property, and was judged by Warwick’s Law staff. It was sponsored by CMS Cameron McKenna, who also awarded a £100 prize to the Bristol winners.

The participation of the Bristol team in the competition was funded by the University of Bristol Law School. Ms Tania Cheng-Davies, Lecturer in Law at the University of Bristol Law School, also kindly assisted the students in their preparation.

Dr Sofia Galani, Lecturer in Law and the School’s Mooting Academic Adviser said:

‘I would like to congratulate Ife and George on their success. Their win was thoroughly deserved as they worked hard to prepare their submissions on a topic that they were mostly unfamiliar with. We are all very happy as this is another good performance for Bristol’s intervarsity mooters, who participated in a range of national and international moot competitions this year’.
