Sofia has been leading a team of eight human rights law researchers - Nolwenn Arnaudon, Michael Ashworth, Richard Costidell, Ben Hudson, Lisa Mardikian, Maria Orchard, Rachel Pougnet and Jonathan Whittle - who have been tasked with selecting, summarising and commenting on key cases of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). Dr Clair Gammage, University of Bristol Law Lecturer, has also contributed to the cases and commentary section.
European Human Rights Law Review is a leading journal in the field of human rights law providing unrivalled and up-to-date coverage of key human rights issues. The cases and comment section can be an invaluable tool for everyone with an interest in human rights as it identifies, summarises and comments on important cases of the ECtHR published both in English and French. Since the HRIC undertook this project, high-profile and landmark decisions of the ECtHR, such as Roman Zakharov v Russia (privacy and secret surveillance), Bărbulescu v Romania (privacy and work communications), Armani da Silva v United Kingdom (right to life and counter-terrorism operations) and L. E. v Greece (human trafficking and sex labour), have been presented in the case and commentary section of the European Human Rights Law Review.
