University of Bristol Law School’s Professional Mentoring Scheme to Expand

2 September 2015

Following its successful launch in September 2014, the Law School’s Professional Mentoring Scheme is to expand in the 2015-2016 academic year. From September 2015, the highest-achieving first year law students – who ranked, in terms of their examination performance, amongst the top 10% of their cohort – will be rewarded with a place on the scheme.

The Professional Mentoring Scheme enables these students to benefit from careers-related support, during their second year of studies, from legal professionals who are also Bristol alumni. Participating alumni include solicitors based in firms in London (Linklaters, Herbert Smith Freehills, Hogan Lovells and Norton Rose Fulbright) and Bristol (Burges Salmon and Bond Dickinson) as well as two Bristol-based barristers.

Commenting on this development, Dr Ardavan Arzandeh, the scheme’s founder, said: “I am very pleased that, thanks to its very successful launch, and the kind support of our alumni, we have been able to offer the Professional Mentoring Scheme to a larger number of our highest achieving first year law students. I hope that this initiative would help our students to make more informed decisions about their future careers”.
