All new project work commitments will be considered by the Capital Investment Programme Board (CIPB) before University Planning and Resources Committee (UPARC) releases approval for a project to proceed through a Project Board. The Project Board will manage and coordinate the process from inception to completion.
Project Boards will include Head of Capital Projects and an academic representative, the client will be represented by the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dean of Faculty, Bursar and Finance Director, who will form the Corporate Board. Project Management and the design work will be undertaken by a team of consultants, external to the University, who are carefully selected for each specific project. Other key members of the project team are the Clerks of Works who supervise construction, a Commissioning Consultant who ensures the scheme works correctly and a CDM Co-ordinator who ensures compliance with Health and Safety legislation.
Consultants external to the University are sourced from the Consultants Framework which is renewed every 4 years.
